Pros:

  • Unique pillow design
  • Great for side sleepers
  • Online selection questionnaire
  • Engaging brand
  • Superb cooling technology

Cons:

  • Made specifically for side sleepers
  • No shipping outside the US

A lot of pillows out there claim to be “ideal” for all sleeping positions. However, this is rarely the case. What’s good for back sleepers often offers inadequate support for stomach sleepers and vice-versa.

Fortunately, the brand we will review today — Pillow Cube — makes no such claims! Instead, they sell pillows specifically designed for side sleepers. And frankly, we’re beside ourselves to share our experience with this specialized brand.

This Pillow Cube review will give you the full scope of all their pillow models, so you don’t have to read through hundreds of reviews. After all, lower back pain is no joke; it’s a real pain in the… backside. Hence, we don’t want to waste any of your time.

So, kiss your sore necks and shoulders goodbye and say hello to our little friend — Pillow Cube!

What Is Pillow Cube?

The Pillow Cube company has come a long way since its inception by Jay Davis, founder and CEO of Pillow Cube. This privately owned Utah-based bedding brand started as a mere dream. But the idea of a square-shaped supportive pillow would soon become a reality.

Fast forward a couple of years, and the brand now offers four different pillow models, dozens of pillowcases, comforters, mattress protectors, sheets, and even a side-sleeper-friendly mattress.

What sets this company apart from other bedding brands is its innovative take on side-sleeper designs and its witty viral marketing. With two successful Kickstarter campaigns to boot and thousands of orders from satisfied customers, the results speak for themselves.

Nevertheless, let’s dig deeper into the subject and unravel this Rubik’s cube.

Pillow Cube Reviews: Side-Sleeper’s Dream Come True?

Each one of Pillow Cube’s models offers a unique approach to side sleeping. Starting with the original model — Pillow Cube Classic (appropriately renamed “Sidekick”) — up to the highly innovative Ice Cube models.

Keep on reading if you want to know more!

Pillow Cube Sidekick Review

The “new” Sidekick is none other than the Classic Square Pillow Cube model that made the company what it is today. You can sleep on it, sit on it, lean on it… Heck, you can even use it as knee support during sleep. It truly lives up to its name!

And to our extreme delight, you can also choose the height of your “wingman.”

Speaking of which…

Size and Shape

With a max size of 12×12’’, this cube is exceedingly versatile and can be used both for traveling and at home. You can even tuck it behind for additional lumbar support at the office or use it on your home office desk during power naps; believe us, we tried!

Rest assured (pun intended), this square pillow for side sleepers will help you reach some serious Zs. Note that it comes in two thickness options — the smaller 5” option and the 6” model. And according to Pillow Cube’s graph, the thick (6’’) model is more suited for people taller than 6’3’’.

On the flip side, the Pillow Cube Sidekick is like the iPhone of the pillow world — or should we say, iPillow? Namely, this supportive pillow comes with its own uniquely squared pillowcase, which you can only get at Pillow Cube, of course.

Composition

The core of these square sleeping pillows consists of a viscoelastic polyurethane memory foam, which is supportive yet soft to the touch. Likewise, the quilted pillow cover is made entirely out of breathable and machine-washable polyester. That really sealed the deal for us; we were quite surprised at just how silky smooth it was.

Lastly, the soft and stretchy pillowcase is a mix of polyester and spandex.

We were also glad to learn that all materials used are anti-microbial and CertiPUR-US certified — meaning no harmful chemicals are present.

Feel

Apart from making you feel like a superhero, this square side sleeper pillow is surprisingly bouncy and supportive for memory foam. Hence, your neck won’t arch out of alignment as the fill compresses. It’s specifically designed to fill that 90° angle between the shoulders and the neck.

Back sleepers will also find this pillow a reliable sidekick, provided you use a firm mattress. On softer mattresses, the pillow could get your spine slightly out of alignment if you rest on your back.

However, we wouldn’t recommend this pillow for stomach sleepers as it’s too high and makes the head tilt awkwardly when on your stomach; your neck will feel quite sore in the morning because of it.

Without a doubt, the cube pillow is made with a side sleeper in mind. Right off the bat, you’ll notice that this pillow has moderate firmness and doesn’t allow much sinkage. This is why we recommend picking the thinner model (5’’) if you already have a mattress for side sleepers to cradle your head the right way.

Nevertheless, if you find yourself falling off your pillow in the mornings or you toss in your sleep, the Side Sleeper Pro might be a better option. It’s much wider than the Sidekick, though we don’t recommend it for couples.

Other Pillow Cube Reviews

Each Pillow Cube model has the exact same high-density memory foam that provides moderate firmness and added support. In addition to that, all non-cooling models use the same breathable cover. The main difference being their shape and application.

We were also pleased to hear that all of the pillows were made in the US.

Pillow Cube Pro Review

The Side Sleeper Pro is the extended version of the Sidekick and looks more like a regular pillow. With the Side Sleeper Pro, you can toss and turn all night without ever falling off your pillow. It’s twice the size of the Sidekick model — 24” in total.

It also comes in three sizes. Namely, the thin (4”), standard (5”), and thick (6”) options. According to their graph, the thin model is ideal for people shorter than 5’3”. Moreover, the Pro uses a regular-sized pillowcase instead of a Pillow Cube pillow case.

Cross Sleeper Pillow Review

This unique split design looks like something out of a sci-fi movie. Rightfully so, as it provides otherworldly support for combo sleepers, primarily those who switch between side and back sleeping.

In essence, it’s fairly similar to the Side Sleeper Pro, with the main difference being the head cradle that’s carved into the memory foam. This is the back-sleeping zone, and the regular part is the side-sleeping zone. It also comes in three sizes, the same as the Side Sleeper Pro.

As a result, this unique Cube Pillow for side sleepers will eliminate any neck pain and shoulder stiffness once you’re on your back since it follows your natural curvatures. Plus, there’s also an extra cooling feature — three cooling channels carved across the length of the pillow. Perfect if you’re a hot sleeper.

Kneezy Pillow Review

Struggling to make your legs more comfortable during the night? If so, the Kneezy pillow is ideal for you. With its unique contours design, Kneezy helps keep the hips, knees, and ankles in place. Perfect if you need to keep that restless leg syndrome in check!

Moreover, the Kneezy is designed to run the entire length of your legs and uses a breathable case and temperature-regulating memory foam core to keep your legs from getting soaked, especially during hot summer nights.

Note that your legs won’t literally get locked into position with this model. You’ll still have that freedom of movement, but you can twist and turn the pillow to get more comfortable.

Ice Cube Pillow Reviews

No, these pillows aren’t straight from the freezer but are just as effective. From the Sidekick to the Kneezy, each of these four pillows has its own Ice Cube counterpart. It’s not a new model in itself but more like a cooler version of the existing designs — an upgrade if you will.

And what an upgrade it is! Namely, Ice Cube pillow covers contain fibers that don’t accumulate heat. Hence, you can expect cooler nights (by around ten degrees), which is well worth the higher price tag, in our opinion.

Terms of Sale

Shipping

Pillow Cube ships to all 50 states via standard and expedited shipping. Likewise, all national and continental shipping is free for orders over $125.

Note that the price refers to the total amount paid, not counting Pillow Cube coupons and similar discounts.

The orders are processed relatively quickly, and your merchandise will be shipped within one or two business days. Moreover, you can expect your shipment to arrive about ten business days after placing your order.

If you’re eco-conscious, you’ll also love the practical minimal-volume Pillow Cube packaging.

Trial Period

The brand offers a Risk-Free 100 Night Trial for its Side Sleeper Hybrid Mattress to provide ample time for you to get used to it. Unfortunately, this trial does not include Pillow Cube pillows, which is a shame, and we’d like to see that change in the future.

Return Policy

The Pillow Cube return policy states that you can return any pillow up to 60 days after the date of purchase if you don’t find it suitable for your needs. It takes around five to ten business days to process the refund, after which you’ll be charged a $20 shipping fee.

Warranty

All Pillow Cube pillows come with a five-year warranty. This includes a cost-free change period for any shape deterioration within a year. Note that shipping and handling charges are not included in the warranty.

Price

You can expect Pillow Cube to cost you anywhere between $69.99 to $159.99, depending on the model you choose. What’s more, cooling pillows cost more than their non-cooling counterparts as they use special cooling technologies and high-quality materials.

That said, Pillow Cube provides occasional sales and deals, so you can follow them on social media to keep tabs on any events. Promo codes and coupons are also available online.

Pillow Cube Customer Service

According to most customer reviews, Pillow Cube has exceptional customer service.

If you have any questions or concerns, you can reach the company through a contact form on their website. You can also email them at [email protected] or call a customer support agent at 1 (855) 684-2823.

Lastly, you can contact the brand on one of its five social media pages.

Pillow Cube Ratings

The Sidekick has an overall rating of 4.1 out of 5 stars on Amazon. Customers love the comfort and support that the pillow provides, and they find that it is an excellent alternative to traditional pillows. According to most reviews, it makes for a great travel or pregnancy pillow.

Some customers note that the pillow is a bit on the firm side, but most find it quite comfortable after getting used to it.

Pillow Cube Pro reviews are slightly better by a tiny fraction, with 4.2 out of 5 stars on Amazon, for instance.

Bottom Line

Pillow Cube is a superb sleep solution for those tired of stacking regular-shaped pillows to fill the annoying shoulder-head gap. Its cube shape and several thickness options will ensure your neck, shoulders, and spine are properly aligned throughout the night.

Whether you are a frequent traveler or want to switch up your sleep game, Pillow Cube has got you covered. We wish you a good night and rest well!
