New AI Pillow Turns Heads to Stop Snores

Wouldn’t it be nice to have someone watch over you when you sleep and help you breathe better? Good news—a new invention called Motion Pillow is made for precisely this purpose—to ease snoring and sleep apnea.

The invention of the Korean company 10minds uses new technology dubbed Sleep Pressure Monitoring System (SPMS). Put simply, the system detects three types of sleep noises and makes you shift your sleeping position when you snore.

More precisely, the Motion Pillow is equipped with four small airbags that inflate when snoring sounds are detected. They inflate enough to turn your head toward a sleeping position that allows unrestricted airflow through the mouth and the nose.

This is possible due to the air pressure sensors that allow the pillow to detect exactly where your head is turned when you sleep. So, when the triggering sounds are detected, only the suitable airbags inflate discreetly, without disturbing the sleeper’s dreaming session.

The pressure and sleep tracking features are backed by an Artificial Intelligence system fitted into an electrical box connected to the pillow. Unsurprisingly, such inventions give reason to the predictions that IoT will take over the global bedding market.

Moreover, health science data shows that snorers have several serious reasons to replace a cheaper pillow for this steeply priced ($378) snoring solution.

Stats show that 45% of adults snore occasionally, and even more of them are affected by their partner’s snoring. Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) and snoring are known factors that gradually raise the risk of cardiovascular ailments, diabetes, depression, and other severe health conditions.

So, this pillow, presented for the first time at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2022, has the potential to promote a good night’s sleep, and thereby prevent chronic diseases.
