DETAILED AMERISLEEP MATTRESS REVIEW COMPARISON

Amerisleep is a company that offers many different mattress options. They produce five different memory foam mattresses: AS1, AS2, AS3, AS4, and AS5. They are ordered by firmness level; the AS1 is extremely firm and the AS5 is the softest.

Amerisleep also offers three of these mattresses as a hybrid, meaning they combine memory foam with coils. This brings the total number of available mattresses to eight, and every single one of them has something to offer, which we’ll cover in our reviews of Amerisleep mattresses.

AMERISLEEP MATTRESS REVIEWS: MEMORY FOAM MODELS

Amerisleep memory foam mattresses use plant-based memory foam, which gives them more breathability and responsiveness. They alleviate discomfort while sleeping and provide you with excellent spinal support.

Amerisleep offers five different memory foam mattresses, each with its own specific twist. We’ve compiled our thoughts about all of them in our Amerisleep mattress reviews.

AS1 Mattress

AS1 Mattress Amerisleep Mattress Reviews - AS1 Mattress Review
star 9.9

Best for Stomach Sleepers

  • Material: Memory foam
$899–$1,898
Visit Site Back To List

The AS1 is the firmest mattress offered by Amerisleep. It’s designed primarily for stomach and back sleepers and offers amazing support. It has a ten-inch profile and consists of two layers:

  • two inches of Bio-Pur memory foam and
  • eight inches of Bio-Core memory foam.

We would like it if the comfort layer were a bit thicker, but that will only bother sleepers who are above-average sized. The mattress also comes equipped with a breathable cover that keeps you cool throughout the night.

In our review of this Amerisleep mattress, we should mention that it’s definitely not designed for side sleepers. Its firmness puts a lot of pressure on your hips and shoulders, so you should look into other models if you sleep on your side. However, the AS1 is an outstanding mattress for stomach sleepers because the firmness offers excellent support for your hips and keeps your spine aligned through the night. The AS1 offers remarkable spinal support, which makes it our top pick for stomach sleepers.

Like most of the products in our Amerisleep mattress reviews, this model provides you with traditional support while remaining very comfortable. In addition, it has nice edge support and isolates motion well, which makes it a great pick for couples.

Pros

  • + A great, firm feel
  • + The best for stomach sleepers
  • + Nice motion isolation

Cons

  • − It might be too firm for some

AS2 Mattress

AS2 Mattress Amerisleep Mattress Reviews - AS2 Mattress Review
star 10

Best for Back Pain Relief

  • Material: Memory foam
$1,049–$2,198
Visit Site Back To List

The AS2 is Amerisleep’s most popular memory foam mattress for back pain relief. It’s a medium-firm mattress designed for stomach and back sleepers who find the AS1 a bit too firm. Many Amerisleep AS2 reviews mention that it’s still a bit too firm for side sleepers. If you are a side sleeper, you might want to test this one out before buying it or take a look at our list of the best-rated mattresses for side sleepers.

The AS2 consists of three layers. The top comfort layer is made of Bio-Pur memory foam and is two inches thick. Next up is the three-inch transitional layer that uses HIVE technology for pressure relief and comfort. Finally, there’s the base layer which is seven inches of  Bio-Core memory foam.

The HIVE layer is responsible for keeping your body aligned perfectly while sleeping, and it’s great at that. This mattress will relieve your pressure points, and you’ll wake up refreshed after a good night’s sleep.

In our Amerisleep AS2 mattress review, we found that this product offers an excellent balance of support and comfort for back and stomach sleepers. Your hips align just the way they should, and the top layers of the mattress press into your lumbar area.

In addition, according to many customer reviews of Amerisleep mattresses, the AS2 mattress is great at motion isolation. So we would also recommend it to couples.

Pros

  • + Relieves pressure points well
  • + HIVE layer keeps your body aligned
  • + Excellent for back sleepers

Cons

  • − Not great for side sleepers

AS3 Mattress

AS3 Mattress Amerisleep Mattress Reviews - AS3 Mattress Review

Most Popular Amerisleep Mattress

$1,149–$2,398

The AS3 is the top seller by Amerisleep, which makes sense due to its medium firmness. Most sleepers will opt for this type of mattress because it offers the best of both worlds.

This model has three layers, just like the AS2. A comfort layer, a transitional layer, and a base layer made with the same materials mentioned in the Amerisleep AS2 mattress review. However, the AS3 is not as firm as the previous model, making it a better choice for certain types of sleepers.

Medium firmness mattresses are usually the best choice for people who sleep on their back, and this one is no exception. The AS3 holds you up while sleeping, and its comfort layer contours around your body.

This product works well for side sleepers, too. In fact, the AS3 works well with all types of sleepers, although it especially excels with back sleepers. As most Amerisleep AS3 mattress reviews mention, people that sleep on their side will get plenty of cushioning from the Bio-Pur foam, so their shoulders and hips won’t feel pressured.

Sleeping on your stomach also feels pretty good with the AS3, although we believe it’s the weakest at this position. Most people won’t get enough support from the comfort layer for their hips. Ultimately, this mattress works best for side, back, and combo sleepers.

Pros

  • + Great for side and combo sleepers
  • + Nice motion isolation
  • + High level of pressure relief

Cons

  • − Not the best for stomach sleepers

AS4 Mattress

AS4 Mattress Amerisleep Mattress Reviews - AS4 Mattress Review
star 9.8

Best for Side Sleepers

  • Material: Memory foam
$1,449–$2,998
Visit Site Back To List

Now we’ll move on to the softer models with our Amerisleep AS4 mattress review. The AS4 is their second softest product, which means back sleepers won’t have as much support with this mattress compared to the models we’ve already discussed. Your body will drop into the mattress more, and the lumbar support is weaker.

This does not mean that this is not an excellent mattress. It’s practically made for side sleepers, so plenty of people prefer it to other models. The comfort layer is made of four inches of Bio-Pur foam, so you sink into the mattress without feeling pressure on your hips and shoulders.

This mattress is one of the best for side sleepers. Two of the layers are the same as the previous models mentioned in our Amerisleep mattress review, but the transitional layer is slightly thinner. It only has one inch of memory foam made with HIVE technology instead of three, but they compensate for this by adding an extra inch to the comfort layer.

As expected, stomach sleepers should skip this mattress. It’s simply too soft for them and doesn’t provide the needed support.

Let’s end our Amerisleep AS4 mattress review on a positive note. As with all Amerisleep mattresses, the cover is breathable. You can feel the air flow through it when you press it. This feature really helps keep you cool while sleeping.

Pros

  • + Great edge support
  • + Exceptional pressure relief
  • + Works well for side and combo sleepers

Cons

  • − Not for back or stomach sleepers

AS5 Mattress

AS5 Mattress Amerisleep Mattress Reviews - AS5 Mattress Review
star 9.8

Best Soft Mattress

  • Material: Memory foam
$1,849–$3,798
Visit Site Back To List

The Amerisleep AS5 is the most luxurious mattress offered by the manufacturer. It’s also their softest model and the only one that contains two inches of Active Flex as one of its layers, which adds extra softness and is a huge plus in our Amerisleep AS5 mattress review. This mattress has a profile height of 14 inches, which is taller than the other models, thanks to that extra layer.

This Active Flex layer is also responsible for providing support for the upper layers of the mattress. As a result, you don’t feel like you’re falling deep into the AS5. In fact, it keeps you supported while still being soft enough to keep the pressure off your hips and shoulders. In general, this product offers a soft and balanced feel, which we liked. Since this is the softest Amerisleep product, it’s the best for side sleepers.

Since this mattress manages to isolate motion relatively well, it’s another great choice for couples. The edge support is pretty good but not phenomenal like other Amerisleep products. This is understandable, considering how soft this model is.

If you prefer sleeping on your stomach, skip this mattress and look at our Amerisleep firm mattress reviews since it won’t provide you with the needed support. Instead, you should consider the AS1 or the AS2 for a more supportive mattress.

AMERISLEEP MATTRESS REVIEWS: HYBRID MODELS

That concludes our Amerisleep memory foam mattress reviews, so we should move on to the hybrid models. There are three hybrid variations of the Amerisleep memory foam mattresses available. They are AS2h, AS3h, and AS5h. As their name implies, they are a combination of two mattress types—all-foam and inner-spring.

However, it is not enough for a mattress to be made of two different materials to be called a hybrid. A true hybrid will always have at least two inches of foam in its top layer. Amerisleep hybrids combine memory foam that contours around you and cradles you while you sleep and coils, which provide extra support and airflow.

Read on to see what we think about the hybrid models in our Amerisleep hybrid mattress reviews.

Pros

  • + Extra luxurious feel
  • + A soft mattress perfect for side sleepers
  • + Great temperature regulation

Cons

  • − Not that great for back and stomach sleepers

AS2 Hybrid Mattress

AS2 Hybrid Mattress Amerisleep Mattress Reviews - AS2 Hybrid Review
star 9.8

Best Hybrid Mattress for Stomach Sleepers

  • Material: Memory foam and coils
$1,449–$2,998
Visit Site Back To List

The AS2h is the first model available in hybrid form. It’s essentially the same bed as the regular AS2, but it uses pocketed coils as its support layer. It also has an added base layer that is one inch thick. Since coils are more expensive than foam, you can expect to pay a bit more for the hybrid models, but you will receive extra support, as with all models in our Amerisleep hybrid reviews.

The coils used in the support layer are placed in zones, creating a zoned support coil system. There are three zones in the mattress, and they all serve a different function.

The zones under your shoulders and hips are a bit softer to relieve pressure on those areas. On the other hand, the zone under your lower back is more firm because that area needs more support. These coils also give the mattress some bounce, so it feels more responsive. This mattress also uses memory foam, but it feels different, more like a neutral foam.

Our Amerisleep AS2 mattress review should also mention that the top layers won’t really mold to your body like regular memory foam models. The hybrid beds have better airflow thanks to the coils, so you’ll sleep a bit cooler. Other than these small differences, the AS2 hybrid is quite similar to the regular version and is an excellent mattress.

Pros

  • + Excellent airflow
  • + Highly responsive feel
  • + Great for stomach and back sleepers

Cons

  • − Not for side sleepers

AS3 Hybrid Mattress

AS3 Hybrid Mattress Amerisleep Mattress Reviews - AS3 Hybrid Mattress Review
star 10

The Most Popular Hybrid Mattress

  • Material: Memory foam and coils
$1,549–$3,198
Visit Site Back To List

The AS3h is the most popular hybrid model among the Amerisleep mattresses, just like its all-foam counterpart that we talked about earlier in our Amerisleep AS3 mattress review. The similarities don’t stop there. This mattress also has a three-inch memory foam comfort layer made out of Bio-Pur memory foam.

This layer provides contouring and pressure relief and allows your body to sink into the mattress a bit. If you need even more pressure relief, you can go for a high-quality mattress topper.

As with the previous model, the pocketed coils give the mattress more bounce. They also create a nice airflow, which means the AS3 hybrid stays cool throughout the night.

The coils are divided into zones that work just like the previous model. They also keep your body on top of the mattress. Unlike the memory foam models we mentioned in our Amerisleep mattress AS3 review, you won’t feel like you’re “in” the mattress. This makes it easy to change positions, making this model a great pick for combo sleepers.

This model is softer than the AS2 hybrid and the all-foam AS3 model, even though they are all described as medium on the firmness scale. It provides body contouring and relieves pressure effectively.

This mattress will work well with a wide variety of sleepers. Only strict stomach sleepers might feel like it’s not for them. However, side, back, and combo sleepers will have a hard time finding a better hybrid mattress than this one, which makes this another highly positive Amerisleep mattress review.

Pros

  • + It fits a large variety of sleepers
  • + It keeps your body cool throughout the night
  • + Excellent pressure relief

Cons

  • − It might be too soft for some

AS5 Hybrid Mattress

AS5 Hybrid Mattress Amerisleep Mattress Reviews - AS5 Hybrid Review
star 9.9

The Best Soft Hybrid Mattress

  • Material: Memory foam and coils
$2,249–$4,598
Visit Site Back To List

Finally, we have the AS5 hybrid mattress, the most expensive model in the Amerisleep collection. Just like the all-foam AS5 version, this mattress is luxurious and constructed with four layers.

The first layer is Bio-Pur foam, with its plant-based open cell structure designed to keep you cool throughout the night. It’s an eco-friendly material, which is another plus in our Amerisleep hybrid mattress review. It also gives this model a nice bouncy feel.

The second layer is Active Flex memory foam which adds softness, followed by an eight-inch layer of pocketed coils. As with other hybrid models, these coils change the overall feel of the mattress and add a bit more bounce. The coils are of the highest quality, so there is no need to worry about sinkage over time. The bottom layer is transitional support foam. The main purpose of this layer is to give structure to the mattress. The all-foam AS5 was the softest regular model, and this one feels even softer, so keep that in mind.

As a conclusion to our Amerisleep hybrid reviews, this is a model we would recommend to side and combo sleepers looking for a hybrid mattress. It will keep you cool while providing you with great motion isolation, although the edge support could be a bit better.

Pros

  • + Great motion isolation
  • + Excellent cooling properties
  • + Very soft but still supportive

Cons

  • − Edge support not that great

AMERISLEEP REVIEW: TERMS OF SALE

Amerisleep is a company with an excellent reputation. It was founded in 2010 with the goal of providing people with high-quality, eco-friendly mattresses. They take pride in their unique foam manufacturing process and use the most cutting-edge components in their products.

They offer trial periods, full refunds, and a warranty. In the next part of our Amerisleep mattress review for 2021, we’ll take a look at their terms of sale in more detail.

Trial Period

Each mattress bought from Amerisleep has a 100-night trial period. You can return the mattress at any time during those 100 days. This is enough time for anyone, and we really can’t complain about this trial period, which is one reason for good customer reviews of Amerisleep mattresses.

However, we should note that you are required to sleep on it for at least 30 nights before returning it. This is because it takes your body 30 nights to get used to a mattress, so even if you feel some discomfort at first, you could end up loving the mattress.

Return Policy

You can return the mattress after sleeping on it for 30 days. The trial period begins the moment you receive the mattress. After that, you can choose to replace it with a different model or ask for a full refund.

If you are not happy with your choice, all you need to do is contact Amerisleep, and your exchange or full refund process will begin. If you decide to go for a refund, the company will ask that you don’t return the product to them.

Instead, you will have the option to donate the mattress to a charity or a local organization of your choice under the Amerisleep name. Many customers praise this in their mattress reviews, so Amerisleep gets some extra credit for that.

The rules are a bit different for other products. For example, pillows can’t be exchanged and are only eligible for returns.

Sheets, accessories, adjustable beds, and flat foundations can’t be returned. If you cancel your order before it’s processed, you will receive a full refund. However, once these items have been shipped to you, there are no returns.

Shipping

Shipping is free for all orders delivered within the continental US. If you want to order Amerisleep products in Canada, Mexico, Alaska, Hawaii, or overseas, contact their customer service. They will arrange a custom shipping quote for you. Their excellent customer service is one of the reasons for good customer reviews of Amerisleep mattresses.

You can expect your mattress to ship in three to five business days. Sometimes it can be faster than that, and they’ll send it to you the next day. However, there are also periods of high demand when you’ll wait a bit longer for your mattress to ship.

Warranty

Amerisleep offers a 20-year warranty for all of its mattresses. The warranty period is broken into two halves. There’s a full replacement warranty for the first ten years and a prorated warranty for the second ten years, which is overall a big plus for our reviews of Amerisleep mattresses.

The entire period is measured from the date of your purchase and applies to the original purchaser only. You can make a warranty claim through the original retailer, dealer, distributor, or seller.

Amerisleep will repair or replace all structural or manufacturer defects on your mattresses, including physical flaws such as cracks in the foam or torn seams in the fabric cover. The warranty also covers deterioration in the cell structure of some mattress materials.

It does not cover normal wear and tear. Check the Amerisleep website to find more details not covered in our Amerisleep mattress review.

Prices

Amerisleep mattresses cover a pretty wide range of prices. Prices vary depending on the model and size of the mattress. Also, hybrid mattresses are more expensive than the all-foam models.

They often have sales on their website, so check it out from time to time. You might be able to get the mattress you desire at a significantly lower price.

In general, twin-size mattresses are the cheapest, starting at $899 for the AS1 and reaching $1,849 for the AS5 model. Split king mattresses are generally the most expensive, and prices range from $1,898 to $3,798 for the most expensive foam model in our reviews of Amerisleep mattresses.

When it comes to hybrid mattresses, the prices are slightly higher, but it’s not drastic. They range between $1,449 and $4,598. Check our reviews for exact prices and the Amerisleep website for all promotions or sales.

Final Thoughts

There you go, our thoughts on all the Amerisleep mattresses. Overall, it’s hard not to be impressed with what they have to offer; every single one of them is a great choice. Their different models cover a wide variety of purposes and focus on different types of sleepers. While we did award some with a higher grade, they are all remarkable products that will provide you with an awesome sleeping experience.

So, if you have trouble sleeping, read our Amerisleep mattress reviews and find the right model for you. You can also add a fluffy pillow and a cozy comforter, and we guarantee you’ll have the best sleep of your life.

FAQs

Where can I buy Amerisleep mattresses?

Amerisleep is an online-only company for now, which means that the only way to get the products described in our reviews of Amerisleep mattresses is to buy them directly from their website.

Amerisleep is located in Phoenix, so you can visit their offices and see their showroom if you are in the area. If you visit, you can even try out their products before buying them.

Is Amerisleep better than Tempur-Pedic?

It all depends on your personal preference. Our advice is to read up on each product and decide what is best for you. Amerisleep and Tempur-Pedic mattresses use similar materials in their construction. Both companies represent some of the finest craftsmanship in the business.

Tempur-Pedic mattresses are generally a bit softer, so you might prefer Amerisleep products if you like a firmer mattress. With Tempur-Pedic mattresses, you feel like you’re falling into the mattress a bit.

You don’t have the sensation of falling into the mattress with Amerisleep products. We prefer the Amerisleep feel, although you can’t go wrong with a Tempur-Pedic mattress either.

How long does an Amerisleep mattress last?

It depends a lot on the type of mattress. Innerspring mattresses will start to show signs of needing replacement after five years. On the other hand, memory foam mattresses usually last up to ten years and hybrids up to seven. In general, it’s always good to replace your mattress after seven to ten years of sleeping on it. You’ll know the time is right when you start to notice squeaky springs, the foam starts sagging, or it hurts when you get out of bed.

The same is true for the Amerisleep mattresses mentioned in our Amerisleep hybrid review. Although they offer a 20-year warranty, you might look into replacing them a bit sooner than that.

Are Amerisleep mattresses toxic?

Amerisleep mattresses are non-toxic. The company strives to use as many eco-friendly materials as possible. They are completely committed to using the highest possible proportion of plant-based ingredients in their mattresses.

Their claims are verified by third-party certifiers such as Greenguard and Oeko-Tex, a fact that earned them high grades in our reviews of Amerisleep mattresses. In general, getting a mattress that isn’t loaded up with chemicals is one of the best things you can do for your health. This is one of the reasons why we highly recommend Amerisleep mattresses.

Can you flip an Amerisleep mattress?

Amerisleep mattresses are one-sided, as is usually the case with memory foam mattresses. They’re constructed from distinct layers that are placed in the right order. This means you should not flip them.

Lesser quality double-sided mattresses can be flipped, but these are not the memory foam models that Amerisleep is known for. You shouldn’t flip the mattresses mentioned in our mattress reviews of Amerisleep products.

Does Amerisleep need a box spring?

For the mattresses mentioned in our Amerisleep memory foam mattress reviews, you want either a platform bed, a slatted bed frame, or an adjustable base, not a box spring.

How is the Amerisleep mattress delivered?

Amerisleep mattresses are shipped within five to seven business days and are delivered via FedEx with curbside delivery. Once a mattress has shipped, it may take up to seven business days to arrive.

For those living outside of the contiguous US, you’ll need to contact Amerisleep directly to see how they can deliver the mattress to you. For all other information about their products, check out our Amerisleep mattress reviews.
